Reading a Bali hotel rate sheet: RO, BB, CWB, CNB
Four abbreviations decide most of what a Bali room actually costs you. What each one means, and where the ambiguity hides.
Every Bali hotel contract you receive will be built from the same handful of codes. Once you can read them, most rate comparisons take a minute instead of an email thread.
Board basis
- RO — room only. The room, nothing else.
- BB — bed and breakfast. Room plus breakfast, usually buffet.
Some properties sell only one of the two. If a column is blank on the sheet, that is not a zero — it means the property does not sell that board basis at all. A blank and a zero are very different things, and reading a blank as free is how a quote goes wrong.
Child occupancy
- CWB — child with bed. The child gets their own sleeping surface, usually an extra bed or sofa bed.
- CNB — child no bed. The child shares existing bedding.
- Extra bed. Priced on its own line, sometimes for adults, sometimes as the physical bed behind a CWB rate.
Where the ambiguity actually lives
Does a CNB child on a BB rate get breakfast? Sometimes yes, sometimes yes but at a reduced child rate charged locally, sometimes no. It is a property-level answer and it is the single most common dispute at check-out — the family is billed for breakfasts the agent believed were included.
Ask the question explicitly for every property where children are travelling, and put the answer in the confirmation you send the client.
The rest of the row
- Room type. Deluxe, suite, villa — check whether the villa rate is per villa or per person, because both exist.
- Season, from and to. Dates are the contract, not a guideline. See Bali seasons.
- Currency. A whole sheet should be in one currency. If it is not, stop and ask.
- Check-in and check-out times. Bali arrivals from India often land early morning; early check-in is a chargeable request, not a courtesy.
One rate per cell
A well-built rate sheet carries one net rate per cell, with markup applied later at quotation. If you receive a sheet with markup already baked in, you have lost the ability to price the client properly — ask for net.
Browse the properties we contract, then ask us for the rate sheet.
